REDLAND businesswomen Brylee Langley, Becky Paroz and Stephanie Roper have been named as finalists in the YAwards, designed to showcase role models in the business community.
Ms Langley, of Redland Bay, is a finalist in the Most Inspirational Y and the Start Up of the Year categories for the learn to read platform she founded to help people with learning difficulties like dyslexia, attention and memory problems.
For Ms Langley, the announcement comes soon after she took home silver in the AusMumpreneur Business Awards in Melbourne in the Best Idea - Change the World category.
She created the system to help her son - who was diagnosed with severe dyslexia - overcome reading difficulties.
"The system was so successful that I knew I had a responsibility to make it available to others to help them overcome their difficulties too," Ms Langley said. "I don't want other parents and children to have to go through what we went through."
Ms Roper of Tooth Fairy & Co is a finalist in the Business Owner of the Year and Innovation categories.
"I have been in business since 2004 helping children overcome their fears of going to the dentist by dressing up as the tooth fairy and delivering oral health services to meet their needs," she said.
"Being selected as a finalist affirms that the work I do and the business I have created is revolutionary in changing children's faith in visiting the dentist."
Ms Paroz, a mentor, coach and project manager from Redland Bay, is a finalist in the Disruptor Award category. She spoke about mentoring, success and storytelling at the Women's Economic Forum in New Delhi, India in April and was in YMag's list of Top Ten Women to Watch in 2019.
Awards founder, mentor and author Shar Moore said she had been overwhelmed by the response to the awards, sponsored by YMag, a publication she started.
"These are women who are empowered to go out and do what they love and so we want to give them the recognition that they so rightly deserve," she said.
The YAward winners will be announced during a gala dinner on the Gold Coast on Saturday, September 28.
