Artists Kathy Jonas and Gail Higgins will team up again to present "Bush to Beach" at the Old SchoolHouse Gallery. This exhibition promises a diversity of artworks, as well as unique 3D creations by fellow artists Francesca Travers and Malissa Johnson. All four artists find inspiration in our beautiful environment, from the rugged Australian bush to the seas surrounding us.
While Kathy enjoys painting many subjects, the ocean has always been her true source and passion for inspiration, to capture and share the fragile beauty of our coastline and beaches.
Gail is an award-winning wildlife artist recognised nationally for her paintings and drawings of Australia's unique native birds. After many years of sharing her knowledge with her classes and workshops, she continues to enjoy painting birds in their natural environment.
Francesca, a local ceramicist and illustrator, creates "perfectly imperfect" pieces inspired by nature. She collects flora to create textures and inspire illustrations on the surfaces of her slab-built pieces.
Malissa crafts unique jewellery from metal, resin and polymer clay. She has chosen to focus on colours from our environment, with hints of the outback to the coast.
The official opening is from 5.30pm Saturday, October 5. The exhibition continues till Sunday, October 27. The Old SchoolHouse Gallery is at 124-126 Shore Street North, Cleveland and is open Thursday through to Sunday and public holidays from 9.30am-4.30pm.
