MATER Private Hospital Redland volunteers will give 'sick' teddy bears a free check-up at a fundraising event during the spring school holidays.
Children are invited to bring their beloved toys along to a temporary teddy bear hospital at Capalaba Park Shopping Centre from Monday, September 30.
Mater Little Miracles mascot Miracle Max will also make an appearance during the six day event, with daily meet and greets scheduled for 11am and 1pm.
While children have their bears checked on, parents can buy tickets in the teddy bear hospital raffle for a chance to win a prize hamper valued at more than $1,500.
Mater Foundation community fundraising director Kelly Burmester said the initiative was an opportunity to connect with the local community and make children feel more comfortable around doctors, hospitals and medical procedures.
"Funds raised through the Teddy Bear Hospital will go towards improving services for mothers and babies at Mater Private Hospital Redland," she said.
Capalaba Park marketing manager Christian Polglase said the centre was in a great position to host the event, with several families visiting on school holidays.
"We've been involved with Mater in the past and...we thought it was a fantastic way for us to re-engage with them and help raise much needed funds and awareness for the great work that they do," he said.
Gold coin donations are encouraged, with all proceeds to benefit Mater Private Hospital Redland.
