Georgie Taylor has gone from a blackboard performer to featured artist with Folk Redlands, performing at the club's regular monthly event on October 20.
Taylor, of Thornlands, first performed for Folk Redlands in 2016 at age 14 and is now recognised as the "full package" as she pursues her dream of singing, performing and songwriting.
Taylor is accredited as an award-winning vocalist/performer, a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter and a recording artist/producer. She is renowned for being able to capture the attention of her audiences with her lyrics, beautiful melodies, and pure voice and has the rare ability to emotionally connect, taking listeners on a journey of the heart.
Taylor was accepted into the Conservatorium of Music studying a Bachelor of Musical Theatre degree in Brisbane. In addition to her dedication to singing, dancing, and acting, Taylor loves to explore storytelling through authentic songwriting and composition.
Earlier this year Taylor independently released her debut country-pop/folk EP, The Deep, following the success of her debut single Insane in 2018.
She has performed her original music live at music festivals across Queensland and New South Wales since 2014.
Taylor's career gained traction in 2017 when she won a string of awards including being a nominee for Redland City Council's Australia Day Cultural Award for significant achievement by an individual who produces and promotes outstanding work in Redlands.
She was RedArts Emerging Artist 2017 and graduated from the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA) Junior Academy of Country Music in the same year. In 2018 she won a Topology Composing Scholarship and performed in the finals at the Gympie Muster Junior Talent Search.
She is a two-time winner of the Redlands Sporting Club's vocal competition and won the Redlands Modern Country Music Talent Quest as junior and overall winner of 2018. This year, she was selected to perform at the Gympie Music Muster in the Songwriters in the Round and The Academy (CMAA) showcase highlighting young and emerging songwriters.
Her sound could be described as an eclectic mix of country, pop, and folk with a jazzy fusion. She is inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Eva Cassidy, and Amy Winehouse.
