THE Queensland Bulls were forced to make a change to their Sheffield Shield side after Redlands Tigers batsman Sam Heazlett broke his finger during a training session on Wednesday.
Heazlett, who has starred for the Bulls in the one-day cup this season, was injured while batting in the nets, ruling him out of Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia at the Gabba.
The big-hitting left-hander sits third on the top run scorers list for the one-day competition having scored 69, 88, 51 and 70 during the Bulls' first four matches of the season, putting him back on the Australian selectors' radar.
Fellow Redlands Tigers player Marnus Labuschagne, fresh off a glistening tour of England, made an equally impressive start to the one-day season, scoring 142 runs at 35.50.
His Ashes form continued in the first Sheffield Shield match of the season against New South Wales where he batted for more than an hour in both innings to score back-to-back half centuries.
He was the only Bulls player to make any headway in the first innings, as the top order slumped to 5/95 against an attack featuring Australian quick Mitchell Starc.
The Bulls lost the match by five wickets after scoring just 268 in the second innings.
Their next one-day match will be played at the Gabba on Wednesday and it looks unlikely Heazlett will play a part.
