In Bloom is an exhibition of floral-inspired artworks and ceramics by Old SchoolHouse Gallery members Junita Grosvenor, Carys Martin and Vicki Whalan.
Vicki is a Cleveland artist inspired by nature; her love of flowers is evident in her many artworks. She is fascinated by the patterns created when light falls on the flower's petals. Vicki uses many mediums including watercolour, pastel, oil and coloured pencil and holds classes and workshops in Cleveland and Wynnum.
Carys Martin is a local ceramic artist committed to making beautiful unique wheel thrown and hand-built pieces. She believes things you surround yourself with should bring you joy and have worth. Carys's pieces are created from the earth, to give back to the earth and each piece has meaning and soul.
After returning from France, which included visits to Claude Monet's home and gardens, Junita was inspired to paint a series of luscious ink and mixed media waterlily paintings. Her passion for colour, texture and chasing light in her paintings is evident in her newest works.
The exhibition is open Thursday through to Sunday from 9.30am to 4.30pm, October 31 to December 1. All welcome to the official opening on Saturday, November 2 from 5.30pm.
Our annual Summer Art Market is on November 24, info@oldschoolhousegallery.org.au for information and stall application. The gallery is located at 124-126 Shore Street North, Cleveland Point.
