ALEX Hills State High School's hip-hop troupe are undefeated through all competitions in 2019 and claimed first place at the House of Champions dance competition in Brisbane earlier this month.
The troupe, which is made up of students from grade seven to 12, outperformed other Queensland schools and international dance groups from New Zealand and the Philippines to pocket $500.
It followed on from their success at the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Redlands eisteddfods where they also walked away with the top prize.
Dance teacher Kim Hill said it was good to see the student's dedication at rehearsals paying off.
"I put our success down to having everyone on the same page and reaching their goals together," she said.
"They had to dig deep for that performance and they did an exceptionally good job to lift each other.
"I feel incredibly proud and blessed to work with them each day."
Ms Hill said the group had impressed the judges by making the audience feel part of their performance.
She said her role was to work with the students on their accuracy, technique and expression to fine tune their on-stage presence while grade 11 student Jayda Lofipo oversaw choreography.
The school will run a two-day dance intensive program in the last week of school for students looking to take their performance to the next level.
Ms Hill said they were also working on organising a tour of Sydney to give the students a chance to compete against schools from interstate.
