Members of Community Connections - Redlands Coast Inc. will head to the Stanthorpe Agricultural show ground on December 7, transporting its 10-metre inflatable screen and five bouncy castles for a free community event..
The outback cinema will screeen Hugh Jackman's The Greatest Showman for the pleasure of drought stricken families of Stanthorpe and surrounds.
This year, Community Connections - Redlands Coast Inc. has hosted five free family movie in the park community events at Mount Cotton, Redland Bay and Cleveland. It has also hosted a hike to the Mount Cotton summit.
Co-founder Craig Luxton said the organisation was about bringing the community together.
"Following the success of our movie in the park events around Redland City, we agreed to take our platform out to Stanthorpe to show the drought stricken families that the city folk are supporting them. We know that our regional neighbours are doing it tough and our organisation wanted to bring a little fun into the lives of the drought affected families," he said.
The committee has been liaising with the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society and local politicians, with assistance from the staff of James Lister MP and David Littleproud MP electorate offices to bring the event to fruition.
"Normally we invite our local not for profit organisations such as sporting clubs, scouts and school P&C's to provide food and drinks and at the same time raise funds for themselves. However, at the Stanthorpe event we are endeavouring to find sponsors to donate funds to keep the food and drink at a minimum cost, if not free."
The event starts with five bouncy castles from 3pm. Food and drink will be provided by the Ringmaster's Cafe and sub-committees until the movie finishes after 9pm.
