SPICERS Peak Lodge luxury retreat stands empty today after Queensland Fire and Emergency issued a directive for people to leave the area on a day that many predict will produce extreme fire risk weather.
The QFES alert went out in the early hours of this morning after a fire burning at Clumber and Spicers Gap had travelled overnight towards the lodge.
Spicers Peak chief executive David Assef said the last guest checked out Monday morning and the last staff member left the site the same day.
"QFES has been very good about informing us about the fire and we've had ample time to get out, so we made good use of that," he said
"We were advised a couple of days ago that the fire could reach us so a lot of preparation went into the past 24 hours with clearing and watering down the buildings.
"From what we understand the fire is currently moving slowly and there is no imminent threat to the lodge
"It did break through containment lines early this morning and now we are just waiting to see how the weather shifts this afternoon."
Mr Assef said the six-star retreat was on 8000 acres with a farm at the base of the mountain and the lodge itself sitting on a plateau surrounded by "reasonably green" grass.
