One local family has a unique bond that has enabled them to keep a business running for 33 years.
The Groom family of Cleveland run the Stradbroke Flyer water taxi service - a company that has been transporting and touring locals and tourists across the Moreton Bay waters for more than three decades.
The service originally began when the family saw a need for a reliable fast passenger service to and from the mainland to North Stradbroke Island.
These passengers include day trippers, tourists planning a holiday stay and locals on their regular commutes.
The water taxi departs the island from One Mile Jetty in Dunwich hourly, arriving at Toondah Harbour in Cleveland.
The trip takes approximately 25 minutes across the beautiful Moreton Bay where travellers can enjoy the breathtaking island sights along the way.
The Grooms pride themselves for being family owned and operated with strong ties to the area they have lived in their whole lives.
Four members of the family actively work for the Stradbroke Flyer water taxi service and along with 15 staff members, pitch in to do whatever job is needed.
They are very familiar with the area and also know a large majority of the island residents well.
