We live in a largely consumer's world these days, but does a Christmas gift really have to be brand new?

Bayside Antique and Collectables Centre is a good place to start Christmas shopping for something special that is etched in wonderment and history.

Here you can find antique furniture, ceramics, glass, silver, decorative art, jewellery, books, coins and banknotes, toys, photographics, tools, militaria and lots more.

Great choice: For Christmas gift ideas with a story to tell.

There is also a mezzanine floor devoted to recycled fashions.

Rob and Di Metcalfe established the centre in 2008.

Since then, it has gone from strength to strength.

"Don't be fooled by the outside, it's larger than it looks," Rob said.

"Many have likened it to the 'Tardis' once they venture in. Visitors can easily spend a couple of hours browsing and our dealers are constantly adding fresh stock, so there's always something new to discover."

Open daily, there is abundant street parking, a bus stop at the door and the train station nearby.
