A Capalaba woman says she will make the needs of her neighbours a priority if she is elected for council.
Redland Community Centre chief executive Allison Wicks will run for the division 9 seat next March.
Ms Wicks said she would use her role supporting families in need to bring a balanced approach to business and community.
She said she looked forward to working with all levels of government to turn Capalaba into a great place to live and work.
Ms Wicks has a master of business degree, along with a diploma in community services. She is a justice of the peace and is studying law.
"In a council struggling with development, trees and koalas, too often it is the people who get forgotten," she said.
"Just like my career of caring for vulnerable families, I will make the needs of every single Capalaba resident my sole priority."
Redland Community Centre board member Wayne Tynan said few people knew Capalaba like Ms Wicks.
"Allison is a community innovator, with a business mind, which she uses constantly to generate incredible outcomes," Mr Tynan said.
"Her proven negotiation skills will continue to serve Capalaba in her role as a division 9 councillor."
Ms Wicks will go up against Adelia Berridge, who announced her campaign last month.
Nurse Irene Henley will contest the divison 2 seat, which takes in Cleveland and North Stradbroke Island, and the proposed Toondah Harbour development.
