FILMING for the movie Great White has wrapped up in the Redlands after shoots at Raby Bay, Redland Bay and Peel Island.
The film, slated for release in 2021 and starring 30 Rock actress Katrina Bowden and Australian actor Aaron Jakubenko, follows the story of seaplane operators and lovers who find themselves stranded with their passengers on an island miles from shore.
They were originally headed on a picturesque flight to Hell's Reef but their trip turns into a nightmare when they realise what is lurking just below the surface.
The film is produced by Australian production company Thrills & Spills along with Silver Wings Films and Piccadilly Pictures.
Great White joins a long list of movies and television shows filmed in the Redlands.
Other productions shot locally include Reef Break, Aquaman, Tidelands, Harrow, Safe Harbour, Hoges, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the Angelina Jolie directed Unbroken. .
Great White producer Pam Collis said the Redlands' scenery opened up a film scape that was yet to be fully realised.
"The film crew have found the locals interested but not intrusive and enjoyed their experience of being able to work close to their home base without being away from home, which is often the case," Ms Collins said.
"The experience filming here has been so good that the producers are happy to not only film in the area again but are more than happy to recommend the area to their counterparts."
Redlands mayor Karen Williams said the Redlands was gaining a reputation as a filming location.
"More than 85 cast and crew including lead actors Katrina Bowden and Aaron Jakubenko filmed on location at Redlands Coast from October through to November 2019, providing an economic boost for the local community."
Star Aaron Jakubenko also featured in the Netflix series Tidelands, which was shot in the Redlands last year.
This week 2018 thriller Safe Harbour won an International Emmy Award for Best TV Movie/Miniseries.
