UPDATE, 2pm: A Queensland police spokesman said this morning's house fire at Capalaba was not being treated as suspicious.
The spokesman said the fire was caused by an air-conditioning unit overheating.
EARLIER: Fire seriously damaged a house in Capalaba last night.
Three fire crews were called to the Mt Cotton Road house at 9.25pm. They arrived to find blaze had taken hold in the front room of the timber structure.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the first crew arrived at 9.28pm, and the blaze was out by 9.36pm.
Fire crews left the scene shortly before 11pm, and were back at 8am today.
Police, ambulance and Energex crews were also called to the fire, along with a fire investigation unit.
A Queensland Police spokesman said inquiries into the cause of the fire were continuing.
