WELLINGTON Point Rotary Club's annual Christmas gift wrapping project is underway at Capalaba Central Shopping Centre.
People who are short on time this festive season can take their presents to the Rotarians who will hand wrap each one for a gold coin donation.
Rotary spokesman Terry Ryan said money raised during the project would be split in half and donated to Crimestoppers' bayside volunteer committee and Queensland Police Legacy.
"The project...is strongly supported by members - both sworn and unsworn - of the Queensland Police Service, Rotarians and Probus Club members, members of the Crimestoppers board and the state management and board of the Queensland Police Legacy scheme," he said.
Mr Ryan said Queensland Police Legacy provided assistance to dependent families of deceased Queensland police officers.
"You could lose six to 10 officers in an instant these days," he said.
"All of a sudden you might have six families with 12 or 14 kids to look after."
Mr Ryan said about 89 children and young adults were currently part of the scheme.
He said they were hoping to raise $3000 this year to back up last year's efforts, which saw both charities receive $2500.
The Rotarians will be wrapping presents until 5pm on Christmas eve.
