Regis Aged Care is leading in sustainable living and specialised care options for residents now and in the future.
One sustainability initiative is Regis Wynnum's "Harvest Garden".
Developed to enable residents to grow and then eat their own produce, the project has been enormously satisfying for all involved.
The garden is nurtured using organic fertilizers, horse manure, and scraps from the kitchen.
Resident Helen describes the experience of growing and cultivating the garden as an enjoyable one both visually, physically and mentally.
"It is good to know that some food on our dinner plates is home-grown," says Helen. "The flower garden is in its glory showing its vivid array of bright colours, to the enjoyment of all."

Regis Wynnum Facility Manager Scott Bailey says that "having a vegetable garden means the residents get a chance to get involved in an enjoyable activity where everyone can join in regardless of their ability.
"Gardening gives residents a sense of pride tending to their produce as well as talking about their garden to families, friends, and fellow residents."
Nearby Regis Birkdale is developing similar initiatives including solar panels, garden beds with a different assortment of herbs and spices, as well as battery, can and plastic bottle recycling.
Regis provides a network of services nationally that feature innovative care, convenience and dedicated specialist services. These include ageing-in-place, palliative, respite, and dementia care.
"We pride ourselves on nurturing trusted connections with our staff, residents and families to ensure our homes are shaped around what's important to you.
"Each home has an array of impressive in-house facilities including on-site cooks preparing nutritious, home-style, seasonal meals along with beautiful grounds.
"Regis Wynnum and Regis Birkdale are committed to improving our residents' quality of life by supporting them and their loved ones with the challenges of living with dementia.
