Successful thong throwing at the Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Club at 5pm on January 25 could earn the thrower $500 as part of a swag of Australia Day activities at the club.
Entry is a gold coin supporting Rural Aid Australia.
The Australia Day events start on January 24 with Dave Ritter performing from 6.30pm and an array of meat tray raffles. On January 25 there will be Jericho duo from 6.30pm performing Australian music and a raffle to win an esky filled with drinks. On Sunday there will be Aussie Music trivia at 3pm and another raffle for a second esky of drinks.
The Grand View hotel offers entertainment all day on January 26 with Kel Harper from 2pm to 6pm and Tyrone Drahm from 7pm to 10.30pm, a children's tug of war at 2pm, thong throwing at 3pm and sumo suit championship at 6pm.
The Macleay Island bowls club is offering family fun day from 11am to 2pm on January 26 with monster raffles, activities and free iceblocks for the children. The day will be a fundraiser for the Queensland bushfire disaster appeal.
The Redland Sporting Club is also offering a weekend of steak and barbecue specials and free entertainment to mark the weekend.
The Redland Bay Hotel features Australian rock band Hoodoo Gurus joined by Screamfeeder, a three-piece pop/indie band from 2pm on January 26. Tickets are $55.10 and can be booked through Oztix.
The Redland RSL is offering emu, crocodile and kangaroo sausages with bush tomato gravy over the Australia Day weekend, with Straya performing on the main stage from 8pm on January 25 and Old Skool duo from 1pm to 4pm on January 26.
