REDLANDS Rugby Union Club will host a touch football fundraiser to help those affected by bushfires.
Organiser and former Australian rugby representative Jordan Taupou said 24 teams were signed up to play in the tournament at Judy Holt Park on Saturday, January 18.
All proceeds will go to the Salvation Army and RSPCA bushfire appeals.
"My partner and I were sitting down and with all the news on, we wanted to get behind them and do something for it," Taupou said.
"We came up with a touch fundraiser."
Taupou said former The Voice contestants Russ Walker and Chang Po Ching would perform during the day.
"I told them what we were doing and they were keen to jump on board and give up their time to support the cause," he said.
Taupou said the tournament had expanded from eight teams to 24 within two days due to overwhelming support from the community.
"We got the flyer out on a Sunday and by Tuesday morning we were pretty much booked-up," he said.
"The amount of teams still coming in and wanting to play is amazing.
"I didn't expect it to fill up so quick. I thought it was going to be hard just to get eight teams in two weeks."
IGA have donated food for the fundraiser, while Batercard Capalaba have provided a trampoline to keep the kids entertained during the day.
The day will start with a ceremony at 8am before the first game kicks-off at 8.20am.
Judy Holt Park is located at 539-563 Old Cleveland Road, Birkdale.
