The art and joy of singing is a key thrust of the Here's to Life program
Here's to Life manager Sue Harvey said the program was designed for men and women who wanted to sing for the sheer joy of it.
"So many of us are scared to open our mouths and sing for fear of being told we're not very good. But we should never let fear guide what our hearts want to do. Did you know that singing improves your heart and lung function; releases endorphins, thus making you happier; teaches your better balance and posture; and makes you live longer?" Ms Harvey said.
"Countless studies have proven time and again that these are just some of the benefits of singing. Imagine gaining from these benefits whilst doing something you love."
Ms Harvey said the program was unauditioned.
"Everyone is welcome. We could use a few more men for the bass line," she said.
"Gentlemen can sing their hearts out, sharpen up or just learn some singing skills and establish lasting friendships. The group also provides life enrochment and fun."
Instructor Graeme Porter teaches how to sing in a group, new harmonies and a few style moves.
The program is held from 1pm to 2.30pm on Wednesdays at the Cleveland Memorial Hall, Smith Street. Cost is $15.
