MARNUS Labuschagne has become the first Redlands Tigers representative since Shane Watson to receive recognition from cricket's international governing body.
The South African-born batsman has been rewarded for a stellar summer with selection in the ICC Test team of the Year, an honorary squad made up of the world's best performing players in 2019.
He follows in the footsteps of former Redlands Tigers player Shane Watson, who was included in the ICC ODI Team of the Year on three separate occasions.
Labuschagne could join Watson on the one-day honour board in future having made his limited overs debut in Australia's 10-wicket rout of India on Tuesday.
He was presented cap 229 by former Australian captain and world cup winner Steve Waugh.
His selection comes on the back of a breakthrough summer, where he scored 896 runs at an average of 112 against the likes of Pakistan and New Zealand to finish the season in third place on the ICC Test rankings.
He is also the highest run scorer in the ICC World Test Championship.
Fellow Australian players Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon also made the test team of the year.
Labuschagne will rejoin County Championship club Glamorgan this season in anticipation of India's arrival to Australia for a test series next summer.
His performances at the Welsh club in 2019 boosted his chances of selection in the Ashes squad, where he went onto become Australia's second highest run scorer for the series behind Steve Smith.
