NEARLY $350,000 has been handed out to community groups and sporting clubs across the Redlands in the latest round of the state government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
A bush tucker garden, marine communication system and electric kiln will be among the items bought by 15 groups who received between $4000 and $35,000 in grants.
Sporting and recreation groups including Amity Point Social Cricket and Sporting Club, YMCA Victoria Point, the Redland and Capalaba bowls clubs, skipping group Cleveland Air Magic, the Thunderbolts Netball Club and the Explorers Caravan Club will also receive a share in the fund.
Redlands MP Kim Richards said the fund was helping groups buy new equipment and upgrade their facilities.
"It's fantastic to see the Palaszczuk government delivering for our local sporting and community groups right across the Redlands," Ms Richards said.
"I'm just delighted to see that so many wonderful groups right here in the Redlands will receive much-needed funds."
Local grants include nearly $35,000 for The Cage Youth Foundation to build a new shed and $35,000 for a new communication system for Raby Bay VMR.
The Bay View State School P&C will create a sensory bush tucker garden and yarning circle while Horses for Health will buy a new horse float.
The Russell Island Community Arts Association will use a grant of more than $20,000 to install a new electric kiln.
Alexandra Hills' East Coast Montessori, disability support organisation Multicap Limited and the Redland Rhapsody Chorus also picked up thousands of dollars in grants.
Capalaba MP Don Brown said the grants were exciting news for players, parents and communities right across the region.
"It's a fantastic way to start the new year, seeing these much-needed funds go to our special community groups," he said.
"This is fantastic news for the local sporting, cultural and community groups that put their time and effort into making our community a great place to work, live and play.
"Applications for the next round are now open, so if your community-based group has a project in mind, the Gambling Community Benefit Fund wants to hear about it."
The Gambling Community Benefit Fund makes grants available for worthwhile projects from $500 to $35,000.
