Having resided on the Redlands Coast for nearly 16 years now, I believe that it is one of the premier (still a little secret) spots around SE Queensland to live, particularly for those of us who love the great mixture of bush and ocean.
The recently new Redland City Council themed branding is certainly apt - Naturally Wonderful!
The Rotary Club of Wellington Point is part of the international Rotary organisation. The Redlands Coast is well serviced by Rotary with clubs at Wellington Point, Cleveland, Capalaba, Redlands Sunrise and Redlands.
Being a member of the Rotary Club of Wellington Point has given me the opportunity to meet and mix with a particularly wide range of our community - from the young families to those many, many retirees that now call the Redlands home.
Having been a Rotarian for just over 20 years, both in North Queensland and here in the SEQ area, I can say that Rotary at Wellington Point is a typical club within District 9630 with members coming from diverse backgrounds but working together to make this world a better place - and there is much enjoyment and friendship along the way.
One of the greatest examples of this good in the world is that of Rotary International partnering with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and others in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative to end the suffering from this disease in this world.
Currently we stand at having achieved this in over 99.9 per cent of the planet. It's crucial to eliminate polio from the last three countries where it remains endemic and to keep other countries polio-free.
We always welcome new members and visitors at the Rotary Club of Wellington Point meeting at 7.00pm each Wednesday night at the Redlands Sporting Club, Birkdale.
