Pricing specialist Courtney Deagon of Court and Co will take artists through some strategies to reframe pricing and show potential customers the true value of an artist, without feeling awkward when talking about price.
The masterclass is one of a series being offered by the Business of Being Creative and will be presented at the Redland Sporting Club, Wellington Point from 9.30am to noon on February 22.
Series producer Andrea Smith from Applause Genie said patrons would gain information on how to stop losing money and start earning clients who were a great fit with their business.
"Artists may struggle to get their business pricing right and come to tax time and realise they have been working for a pittance or have made a loss for the year. Some people are just not confident in setting or talking about pricing structure. Pricing is really tough to get right. We want people to love working with you because of the huge value you can give them through what you create," Ms Smith said.
Ms Deagon is a pricing expert who uses her background studies in psychology and accounting and seasoned skills in sales and marketing to provide high-value transformation in a business's pricing and value creation.
"Many of the small businesses I've worked with say one of their top 10 issues is pricing. If the price is too low, potential customers may suspect there is something wrong with the product/service and not buy or the business owner is making no money. If the price is too high they may not get any customers in the first place. It can be a real struggle to know what to do and causes a lack of confidence in the business offerings. And often the business closes up or fails," she said.
"We want to keep our small businesses thriving. The future of your business depends on its ability to create magnetic value for your clients, communicating that value effectively, and attracting the exact clients you want to serve."
The masterclass is sponsored by the Queensland Government, Redland City Council, Applause Genie, Redlands Sporting Club, RedArts and Binary Music.
Tickets are $12 until February 15 and $15, plus booking fee from this date. Tickets and information is available on https://applausegenie.com.au/tbobc_redland/ and https://tbobc-feb22-2019.eventbrite.com.au
