AN ORCHID show held to raise money for Redland Hospital Auxiliary is set to please green thumbs, with plant sales and potting demonstrations a part of the action packed program.
The Redlands Orchid Society will host the event at Cleveland's Donald Simpson Community Centre on Saturday, February 22 from 8.30am to 3pm.
Committee member Tom Edmonds said the society was hoping to raise enough money to allow the auxiliary to buy a tonometer, which could be used to detect glaucoma.
"Our attendance increased (last time) which allowed us to donate more money to the Redland Hospital Auxiliary," he said.
"Some Oculus goggles were purchased. These are used when children are being treated, showing them happy images to take their thoughts away from the treatment they are receiving."
Orchid society member Bill Williams, who was recently awarded a first class certificate from the Australian Orchid Council for his aerangis articulata, will be at the show to share his expertise.
Refreshments will also be available at the event. Entry is $3 for adults and free for children.
