A CAPALABA business has offered up a reward in their quest to track down a priceless statue that was stolen from their property during Halloween festivities last year.
Advanced Metal Recyclers business owner Janelle Zordan said CCTV cameras caught thieves jumping the business' fence and stealing a metre tall Road Runner ornament made of scrap metal from the garden.
She said the statue held great sentimental value to her family as it was given to her husband as a gift from one of their customers.
The business will offer up a monetary reward to the people who return it to them in one piece, though they are yet to settle on a figure.
Ms Zordan said the statue had only been in the garden for a week and a half before the crooks took off with it in the back of a Mazda hatchback.
She said they had reviewed the incident on CCTV footage which showed two masked people entering their property and going to great lengths to knock off the prized possession.
"You can see there is someone walking out along the front of the property keeping lookout," she said.
"For about 20 minutes you can see him crouching in the garden and then you see this guy come down from the back of the office.
"He bends down and picks up this 120 kilogram item. The other guy helps lift it a little bit and they walk away with it.
"They took a panel off the fence and someone drives away with the statue hanging out the back of the hatchback."
Ms Zordan said the robbery took place under the cover of darkness between 10pm and 10.30pm on October 31.
She said the value of the scrap metal was minimal and if their plan was to sell it they would be lucky to get $100.
The statue's design is intricate, with all the metal that has been welded to make up the Road Runner's feathers done by hand.
"The man that made it has actually cut holes in the flat metal and welded the ball bearings in," Ms Zordan said.
"The amount of work and detail that has gone into it is phenomenal."
Senior constable Brendon Winslow has been dealing with the incident and said people should contact Policelink on if they had information.
"Any Bayside locals who wish to help counter the actions of the thieves they consider to be the real life Wile E. Coyote are encouraged to contact police," he said.
