Scott Morrison has swatted away renewed calls to release a secret report into the $100 million sports rorts scandal.
Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Philip Gaetjens' report found former sport minister Bridget McKenzie broke ministerial rules by not declaring conflicts of interest.
But in stark contrast to the auditor-general's findings, Mr Gaetjens did not find evidence of pork-barrelling in coalition-targeted seats.
After the government resisted pressure to release the Gaetjens report, the secretary last week wrote to a Senate inquiry investigating the scheme.
"The information that people have been seeking has been well set out by the statement of the secretary," Mr Morrison told reporters in Adelaide on Wednesday.
In his submission, Mr Gaetjens found some "significant shortcomings" with the minister's decision-making role.
But he also said her office's separate approval processes were not unduly influenced by reference to "marginal" or "targeted" seats.
Mr Morrison said it was a comprehensive statement covering Mr Gaetjens' findings from the report.
"It is not the policy of our government or any government to have cabinet-in-confidence materials, of the governance committee in particular, released," the prime minister said.
