A father-of-three who sent a barrage of 300 love poems to Delta Goodrem has been ordered not to attend any of the pop star's concerts.
James Joseph Lafferty, 47, on Wednesday failed to attend Downing Centre Local Court to contest an apprehended violence order taken out by NSW Police on Goodrem's behalf.
Deputy chief magistrate Jane Mottley granted the AVO and imposed a string of conditions on Lafferty, a day after he was convicted of stalking offences, including intimidation.
The Grafton local was ordered not to contact Goodrem unless through a lawyer, go within 50 metres of her residence or work, or attend any of her performances.
Lafferty was on Tuesday handed an 18-month community corrections order and fined $600 after pleading guilty to intimidation, using a carrier service to harass Goodrem, and failing to move on.
In the lead up to Valentine's Day, he bombarded Goodrem via social media with 300 messages including "I honestly love you Delta, my soulmate forever" and "James loves Delta".
On February 14, he visited her CBD apartment block and attempted to give her gifts but was turned away by the concierge before returning four times.
He returned a day later and Goodrem noticed him in a park opposite her building playing a guitar. He later spotted her in the lobby.
He was asked to move on by police but was arrested that evening after he was found lurking outside.
Lafferty on Tuesday declined to apologise outside court but promised not to return to her apartment building.
"There's nothing wrong with writing 300 poems for somebody and giving somebody some Valentine's Day gifts, is there? Better than a sleazy one-liner in a nightclub, isn't it?" Lafferty told reporters.
