DEVELOPERS are set to break ground on an acreage project on the site of a former Thornlands chicken farm.
Parc Thornlands, a development at the corner of Woodlands Drive and Taylor Road near Sheldon College, will have 38 residential lots sized between about 6000 and 10,000 square metres.
A spokesperson said the lots were big enough to accommodate features like a tennis court, pool, golf green or BMX track.
The development will also have a one hectare commercial space on the corner, which is expected to be a small supermarket or childcare centre.
The spokesperson said existing structures like sheds on the site had been demolished and a ground breaking ceremony in March would mark the official start of civil work on the site.
Developer BriStar Group paid $15.7 million for the 31 hectare site at 157-197 Woodlands Drive in 2019.
It already had development approvals for 38 residential sites, a retirement and aged care component and a site for a neighbourhood centre.
Only the land would be sold, with lots priced from $750,000. Buyers could start building on their lots in late 2020.
The BriStar Parc series also includes developments in Carindale and Sunnybank Hills.
Ray White special projects Queensland executive director Tony Williams told the Bulletin last year that the supply of acreage lots in the Redlands was limited.
"The site was well positioned to supply to a market place diminishing in opportunity for larger allotments to families seeking additional space and an alternative to the traditional lot sizes," Mr Williams said.
At the end of 2019, expressions of interest had been signed for nearly half the lots.
