BAY Play Cleveland has been given a lease on life thanks to a Wellington Point couple who bought the business off the previous owners after the centre closed down.
The new owners reopened the popular kids play centre under the same name after making a swathe of changes.
The reopening followed months of turmoil for the former owners, who closed down in November.
New owner Elena Neale said they had decided to buy the business at the eleventh hour.
"My husband and I have five kids so we thought 'no, we are not going to let this business close'," she said. "Even though it is only six years old it is very popular."
Ms Neale said the biggest challenge was to make it appealing for parents.
They had built a stand alone cafe, allowing people to eat and drink at the centre.
"Most indoor play centres cater really well for the children but not at all for the adults," Ms Neale said.
"As parents we have been to so many play centres over the last 17 years, we literally just picked holes with each and every one of them and asked 'what is missing?'.
"It essentially came down to something appealing for the parents. We've lifted the standard of service, we've employed qualified chefs, qualified baristas and customer service staff.
"We sourced Bellissimo coffee, and I think we are a first for the region with them because most of their customers are in the city or the Fortitude Valley," she said."
The business owners plan to host networking sessions for stay at home mums and give more opportunities to children with disabilities.
