LEAP day babies across the Redlands are celebrating especially hard today as their special day rolls around for the first time in four years.
Hilliard State School student Lillian Fidler turns 12 this week but will be celebrating her third official birthday.
Lillian's mother Kelly Fidler said she would receive a present that was suitable for her age and one for the actual number of birthdays she has had.
"She loves to turn it to her advantage," Ms Fidler said. "For almost four years now if I tell her to act her age she responds with 'I'm only two'."
Karly Close from Wellington Point may be only marking her second official birthday but she will be spending her special day shopping, followed by a party with family and friends.
Ayvie Matthews will have a huge disco party with all of her friends when she celebrates her third official birthday.
Older leap year babies will also be celebrating their new found youth with activities to suit their age.
Georgie McHardy said she would be heading to the Carrara Markets on the Gold Coast with her friends while Chris Holt will share a beer with his family on what will be his 18th official birthday.
Mr Holt actually turns 72 on Saturday but in terms of leap years, he is only now able to legally indulge in an alcoholic beverage.
Lesley Blank's family will also throw her a long-awaited 18th birthday celebration.
Meanwhile Helen Wood may be turning 60 but her family will be serving her non-alcoholic wine in honour of her 15th birthday.
Daughter-in-law Jaime Wood said the family - including three children and five grandchildren - would be spoiling her for milestone birthday.
Jason Seaton, 32, will mark his eighth birthday with a special surprise for his wife.
"(She) makes everyday feel like my birthday, so this year I am going to dedicate my eighth birthday to her and plan eight very special moments to show her just how much I adore her," he said.
