CANDIDATES in this month's Redland City Council election have been given their rankings on the ballot paper.
Mayoral candidate Claire Richardson drew the plum number one spot ahead of David Curtin, with incumbent Karen Williams in third place.
The draw was held today at the Electoral Commission of Queensland office in Cleveland under the watchful eye of returning officer Mandy Heinrich. Several candidates and their supporters witnessed four ECQ officers draw the names from the ballot box. The names were drawn randomly and displayed on the wall at the ECQ office.
More than 30 candidates have officially thrown their hat in the ring for council seats at this month's local government election.
Division 8 candidate, Keith Mearns drew third and said he wasn't really worried about where his name appeared on the ballot paper.
Division 7 candidate Rowanne McKenzie would be first on the card followed by Murray Elliott.
"I'm pretty happy about it. I think disengaged people will just tick anybody, but voters who know their candidates will vote for who they want to win," she said.
Newcomer to the race Jarrod Noble is running against deputy mayor Cr Lance Hewlett. Mr Noble is 21 years old, making him the youngest candidate in this year's election.
