TALENTED Cleveland youngster Bodie Smith has been in fine form behind the wheel of his compact speedcar, clinching five feature race wins in a row at Brisbane's Archerfield Speedway.
The 17-year-old has also kept his foot on the gas in the regular speedcar competition over the past month, having recorded two stand-out performances including a third place finish at Archerfield Speedway.
Smith, who is barely old enough to drive alone on the open road, said he was enjoying his second season in a senior speedway competition despite his busy schedule.
"Since the beginning of the season, I have rarely had a weekend off, but it's allowed me to get plenty of track time and gain a lot of experience along the way," he said.
"None of this would be at all possible without the support of my family, my pit crew and valued sponsors, and I'm very grateful for all of their support and it's very satisfying to be able to go out on the track and bring back some good results for them."
Smith, the current Australian champion, is one of the leading drivers in this season's compact speedcar Queensland Club Championship.
He is on a five race winning streak in his Yamaha R1 powered razor car and earned his first minor podium finish in a regular speedcar at Archerfield Speedway during the Polar Ice Series.
Smith said he would finish the compact speedcar season in his home state and hoped to wrap-up the Queensland Club Championship.
He will look to continue his winning run in April at the Queensland titles. He will also race at the Brisbane 50 Lapper on Saturday, May 16 at Archerfield Speedway.
