RUSSELL Island resident Ann Hagen says she will push for transparency and better decision-making about development projects like Toondah, Shoreline and Weinam Creek if elected to council in March.
Ms Hagen, who will run for Division 5, is a former teacher and health journalist and said residents took issue with many aspects of current development plans.
"Weinam Creek is a huge issue in Division 5 because of the poor choice of Moores farm for SMBI parking that will involve a long walk for frail people and parents with kids," she said.
"The mayor and current councillor haven't attended resident meetings at Redland Bay and the timeframe for the multi-storey carpark seems very vague.
"I don't believe (people of) Division 5 want a destination hub at the marina either as that will impact on parking.
"Without a bus route nearby Shoreline will add to congestion on roads and the developer seems to be pushing the small lot boundary rules from documents lodged with council."
She was also opposed to the Toondah Harbour project as it stood.
"Toondah in its present form is unacceptable to most Redlanders because of the road congestion it will cause as well as the destruction of migratory bird wetlands."
Ms Hagen said holding regular community consultations and working to disband Redlands Investment Corporation were among her priorities.
She also supported online petitions and wanted council to relax rules about public participation in meetings.
Island infrastructure was also high on her list, including roads, boat ramps and parking.
"People want a change and are upset about the broken promise four years ago (about) sealing SMBI roads," she said.
"I also want to lobby for more transparency and advance spending on island projects."
She would also push for amendment of the City Plan to curtail over-development and lobby for sealing and fixing drainage issues on island roads.
Ms Hagen said she was not affiliated with any political groups but had been involved in the Jetty Action Group, SMBI Permaculture and Bay Island Conservation Inc.
