INCUMBENT councillor Wendy Boglary will stand for a fourth term in the Division 1 seat of Ormiston and Wellington Point at the local government election this weekend.
She is up against council candidate Corrinne Tomasi.
Cr Boglary moved to the Redlands more than 30 years ago to raise her family as her parents lived in the area
The mother of three boys is a former small business owner of Ormiston Foodstore, and said this experience gave her an understanding which helped her support local businesses.
Cr Boglary ran for council initially in 2008 on governance reasons.
"I am frustrated that the community and their values for Redlands is still not the main priority in decision making. As I seek transparency, accountability and integrity in all decision making I do ask a lot of questions," she said.
Passionate about the Redland City Plan, Cr Boglary has spoken out about revising sections of the document.
"The approval of the City Plan in 2018 opened up development for even higher densities, plus environmental protection was decreased across the city".
"Our environment is unique and people understand the importance of this. With the Redlands ecosystem services calculated valuation to be $2,899,000,000 pa it is obvious it is also what our economy is based upon. The growth of our local economy would not be sustained without our environmental assets including our bay, bush and beaches," Cr Boglary said.
Cr Boglary said she had spoken strongly for community values to be included in the City Plan.
A former Redlands deputy mayor and current chairperson of Disaster Recovery, Cr Boglary stressed the importance of social isolation from non essential activities and to wash your hands during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Council is planning with all relevant agencies to be able to care for our community especially the vulnerable...our island communities and elderly. Please look out for those in need of assistance in your community," she said.
