BARISTA Colleen Ross has a front row seat outside Victoria Point State School for today's voting and says she is impressed by how considerate and calm voters have been.
Ms Ross of Our Coffee Lady - who has sold coffee outside polling booths at Birkdale and Wellington Point in previous elections - said today had been easily 70 per cent quieter than a usual election day.
"Everybody's been fine, calm," she said.
"I've heard some people say it's a lot slower than they expected.
"One lady said 'nobody's going to get sick today'.
"Everybody's very aware of social distancing. People walking this way will stop out of the way to let the others walk forward and not have to get too close.
"If you stood here for five minutes you'd see it yourself."
Ms Ross said people had been getting in and out quickly with few queues.
"There's probably been about two per cent with gloves and one per cent with masks, but people are definitely being sensible."
More than half of Queenslanders had already voted or made arrangements to vote via post or phone before election day.
Ms Ross said she had been impressed by people's care for one another during these tough times, with one of the staff members at the polling station sharing the love by treating workers to a coffee.
"(Issues like coronavirus) bring out the worst in a small handful of people no matter what you do but 90 per cent of people have been great.
"I think we'll come out on the other side better for it."
