COUNCIL playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor exercise equipment are among the latest coronavirus closures in the Redlands.
Tennis courts and basketball facilities as well as fenced dog off-leash areas have also been closed, and power to council's outdoor barbecues has been disconnected until further notice.
The animal shelter on South Street, Thornlands has also been closed, with visits available by appointment only.
Residents can still adopt animals or collect impounded pets but must contact 3829 8663 for an appointment before visiting.
The latest closures follow the Australian government's decision on Sunday to limit outdoor gatherings to no more than two people unless from the one household, and to close playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The Redland City Local Disaster Management Group and council asked residents not to congregate in groups in parks and on foreshores and ensure appropriate hygiene was maintained.
The state government last week banned all non-essential travel to North Stradbroke Island and people were strongly urged to reconsider their need for travel to other islands including Coochiemudlo, Russell, Lamb, Macleay and Karragarra.
This would help protect vulnerable island communities and better ensure social distancing measures could be observed.
