REDLAND City Chamber of Commerce president Rebecca Young urged people to support local businesses and tradies.

"Construction represents our second highest industry sector in this city, it contributes to many of the jobs. If tradies are not working it means that other economic indicators are going to be affected," she said.

Ms Young urged people to buy local during the COVID-19 crisis.
"Independent businesses in the Redlands are more likely to employ locals, and they generally have deep roots within the city and care about the local economy," she said.
She believed many local businesses had adapted very quickly to stay in business during these tough times.
It has been three weeks since Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce surveyed the business community on the initial effects of COVID-19 restrictions on business.
There have been significant changes since that time, with many government announcements directly impacting business's viability and dictating their future.
This week, the chamber released a second survey focusing on where businesses are now in light of COVID-19 and where they believe their businesses will be in a month.
"The chamber is a conduit for businesses to give feedback to key decision makers within government, it is important to give data that is most relevant. We felt the data from the first survey is now out of date and it was important to get a snap shot of how businesses were doing now," she said.
Ms Young said the chamber was also trying to capture employment and checking to see if businesses understood the Queensland stimulus.
Council were working on finalising stimulus and the survey data would be valuable for them.
