QUEENSLAND Health Department will now publish council specific COVID-19 cases.
Earlier this month mayor Karen Williams asked the state's health chief Dr Jeannette Young if there was any truth in the rumours that COVID-19 patients were isolating on the bay islands, but she banished the gossip.
Cr Williams called on Health Minister Steven Miles to supply detailed information about where cases had been identified across the city to help put people at ease and combat rumours circulating.
Queensland Health has previously reported COVID-19 cases per region with Redlands falling into Metro South which has 248 confirmed cases to date.
Today, Queensland Health reported there were a total of 20 COVID-19 cases reported in Redland City.
This comes after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk along with Health Minister Steven Miles and the chief health officer announced the launch of a new COVID-19 data website.
The website breaks down regional data by local government area, giving communities more oversight of their local cases.
"This website will be the single source of truth for all Queensland COVID-19 data drawn from across the state," the Premier said.
Mayor Karen Williams said: "I'm glad the minister has listened to my request and will make city specific data available so residents know how the COVID-19 pandemic is directly impacting the Redlands".
"While I would also like to see suburb specific data for our islands I appreciate that may be difficult to do. In the absence of this data I will be asking the chief health officer to advise council if there are any matters of concern on our islands so I can let the community know," she said.
