POLICE have seized drugs and used a taser on an allegedly violent man at Toondah Harbour while enforcing the North Stradbroke Island COVID-19 travel ban.
Sergeant Ella Whitson said several people failing to follow travel bans had been busted committing other offences.
Nineteen people were charged on nearly 50 offences, most related to drugs.
On April 30, police spoke with three men acting suspiciously at the Toondah Harbour ferry terminal car park.
Police allege that during a search, one of the men violently resisted police, resulting in police using a taser to arrest him.
Police found five grams of amphetamine and six grams of cannabis on the man, who also received a $1334 non-essential travel fine.
A 34-year-old Acacia Ridge man will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on July 2.
Officer in charge of Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad Senior Sergeant Warren Piket said it was disappointing to see such a number of people doing the wrong thing.
"(However) it's great to see the majority of the community following the rules and showing understanding and co-operation with our officers in relation to the COVID-19 restrictions," he said.
Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad officers and Dunwich police have enforced non-essential travel restrictions to North Stradbroke Island since March 26.
Sergeant Whitson said police were conducting extra enforcement patrols of the surrounding area, including the Cleveland CBD.
Non-essential travel to North Stradbroke Island remained off-limits, including to property owners who do not live on the island.
Just before the Easter long weekend mayor Karen Williams contacted police after she learnt that about 300 people had applied to have driver's licence addresses changed to Stradbroke addresses in about a week.
"While some of these applications may be genuine, with so many in just over a week, it is clear some are trying to find a loophole by claiming they permanently live on the island," Cr Williams said.
State Disaster Co-ordinator Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said: "It's not a game to work out how you can game the system and go to your holiday home on Straddie because you want to spend the one weekend a year that you spend there at the expense of everyone else."
