A 55-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with murder after the death of a man who was seriously assaulted on Lamb Island on Friday.
The 48-year-old man died in the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Sunday morning.
The 55-year-old, from Macleay Island, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and obstructing police.
He is set to reappear before court on Monday where the charge will be upgraded to murder.

A 48-year-old man is in a serious condition after an assault at a private residence on Lamb Island in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police and paramedics, including high a high acuity response unit, were called to a Perulpa Drive address about 1am where the man was found with life-threatening facial injures.
Paramedics transported the man in a serious condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Police have set up a crime scene at the address as they investigate the assault.
A man and woman known to the injured man are assisting police with their enquiries.
