THE tiny community of Lamb Island - population 432 - has been shaken by the alleged murder of father of three Scott "Slim" Pilton.
Mr Pilton died in hospital on Sunday after an alleged serious assault on Lamb Island early on Friday morning.
On Facebook, a Macleay Island resident said Southern Moreton Bay islanders were already struggling due to the impacts of COVID-19 and had been shocked to have this happen on their doorstep.
One resident described the incident as "traumatising", while others offered condolences to Mr Pilton's family and friends.
"Can't believe this, (too) much happening on (the) islands," another commented.
Lamb Island Recreation Club was setting up a wishing well to raise funds for Mr Pilton's children and was set to hold a pool competition in his honour.
"Anyone who knew Slim, knows he loved his pool," a club spokesperson said in a Facebook statement.
It came eight years after the SMBI community was rocked by the murder of Macleay Island grandmother Liselotte Watson.
In September 2019, the High Court overturned former pamphlet deliverer Steven Fennell's murder conviction after the High Court determined evidence relating to the alleged murder weapon was improbable.
