A NEW YMCA vocational school for disengaged students is taking shape at Victoria Point ahead of an expected August opening.
About $7 million has been injected into the project and the Redland City Bulletin got a behind the scenes look at the facility.
Head of school Shane Williams said each classroom would have four separate learning spaces and students would get the choice of working at a desk, on a bean bag or standing up at a tall table.
He said a teaching cafe was being installed which would allow students to hone their hospitality skills by serving coffees and other drinks to the community
The school will cater for up to 100 students and the campus will be available for community groups to use outside of class hours.
Mr Williams said teachers and students were itching to enter the new facility, having been working out of the Gateway Baptist Church premises since term one.
