TRUTH by Nature owner Nathan Clarke is determined to hold onto the name of his small business after receiving a letter on behalf of vitamin firm Nature's Truth.
The American company says Truth by Nature is too close to their own and they are opposing the name.
Mr Clarke said he did not intend to change the name of his business.
"I'm not backing down, if I did I would go bankrupt," he said.
Mr Clarke said his business made camel milk and hemp skin and hair care products.
"It's nothing like the same sort of product," he said.
"Nature's Way and Nature's Choice both make vitamins, which would be a closer match.
"We are just a small company and we donate a lot of our products to Rural Aid."
Natures Way has been trading in Australia since 1969 and Natures Choice since 1990.
According to the Nature's Truth website, the company has been making vitamins for more than 40 years.
Scenic Rim MP Jon Krause said he had come across Mr Clarke's stand at the Rathdowney Markets a couple of weeks ago.
"I think it's great they are working with rural aid and supporting our community that has been so badly affected by drought and bushfire," he said.
"From what I understand, they make a different range of goods to the US company and I think we should all support local business in the Scenic Rim.
"This is just the type of business we need to grow to give people jobs and it's innovation at a rural level that will help our community continue to thrive."
Truth by Nature has been trading online from truthbynature.com.au and from Rathdowney Markets now COVID-19 restrictions have eased.
