Mount Cotton father wins $1,536,277 in Saturday Gold Lotto draw

Mount Cotton man answers phone to million-dollar news

A Mount Cotton father will start the week off as a millionaire after winning $1,536,277.70.

He held one of the three division one winning entries across the country in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4065 on Saturday July 4.

This morning an official from the Lott contacted the retiree, who had no idea he'd scored division one.

"This is great news. It's fantastic. I've always dreamed about this happening. I've been playing most of my life," he said.

He said his wife did not believe the news and thought it was a joke.

When asked how he might enjoy life as a millionaire, he thought of his family.

"I've always said to my children should I one day win the lottery I will be able to help them out and now I can so that's great," he said.

He said he had a few bills to settle so the winnings would help pay them off.

"We will probably do a bit more travel when we can. My wife and I have a few places on the bucket list that we really want to see.

"We will certainly be enjoying it during our retirement, there's no doubt about that," he said.

The division one winning 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com - Australia's official lotteries.
