Ford star Fabian Coulthard has vowed not to back down from the challenge of clawing his way back into the Supercars championship fight.
The DJR Team Penske driver is yet to post a top five finish in any of the five races in the COVID-affected 2020 championship race.
At last month's Sydney SuperSprint event, Coulthard came 10th and 15th in the first two races before a last lap failure in the third race of the weekend left him with a DNF.
His teammate, two-time champion Scott McLaughlin, won two of the three races and sits 49 points clear of the standings.
Coulthard, whose last race win came in Perth in May last year, is a lowly 13th after his slow start to this year.
"We never run away from a fight," the New Zealander said.
"We had good qualy pace, struggled in the races a little bit, but there's lots of good thoughts within the organisation to what we can do to improve and make our cars better."
The championship returns to Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend after the Winton event was postponed due to Victoria's COVID-19 outbreak.
Coulthard believes an instant return to the venue will benefit him as he puts into practice what he learnt from last month's event.
"It's very rare to go back to a track, back-to-back, and have the ability to see if the things you think worked actually worked," Coulthard said.
"Pretty motivated to get back there ... we didn't have the best race car, but I'm pretty motivated and excited to turn that all around."
