REDLANDS LNP candidate Henry Pike is pushing to secure state government funding for CCTV cameras for the Victoria Point jetty car parks.
The car parks service residents and visitors to Coochiemudlo Island, boaties, VMR volunteers, and visitors to the park and playground.
Mr Pike said that with CCTV cameras now installed at Redland Bay and Wellington Point, Victoria Point is being perceived as the soft touch for petty criminals.

"There have been 137 criminal incidents reported in the vicinity of the Victoria Point jetty carpark over recent years," Mr Pike said.
"If you add all the unreported incidents that Coochie residents have told me about, it is clear that the level of vandalism and theft is well beyond an acceptable level."
Mr Pike is making the case to the LNP parliamentary leadership for a commitment on CCTV cameras ahead of October's state election.
"It has gotten to the point where a lot of Coochie residents don't feel safe making their way to the jetty in the evening," Mr Pike said.
He said beyond measures to increase security, the car parking at Victoria Point needed a broader rethink from both Redland City Council and the state government.
