ENERGEX crews will be undertaking essential works on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands electricity supply for the next few months.
The electric power distribution company have supplied generators should they be needed.
Energex spokesman Danny Donald said North Stradbroke and Macleay Island residents may have spotted a few Energex generators around town this week.
"Energex thanks the island communities for their patience while these necessary works to maintain a safe and reliable power supply are underway," Mr Donald said.
On Tuesday afternoon this week about 4500 people on Russell, Macleay and North Stradbroke islands were without power for hours as crews worked to fix a fallen powerline.
