CAPALABA disability support group Tea-Cup Cottage has launched an events and holiday program for locals of all abilities.
Founder Alex Shaw said clients had been calling for an adventure program that could get people out of their comfort zone and learning new skills.
The first two camps had been a hit with participants and included things like obstacle courses, kayaking, archery, hiking and indoor skydiving.
"Our first two events have been a great success and we can't wait to continue our exciting program which includes a visit to Stradbroke Island for whale watching and a road trip later in the year," Ms Shaw said.
"We believe that participating in activities within the community is important for people with disabilities so we're always thinking of new ways for our clients to get involved, learn new things and, most importantly have lots of fun."
The new program has come at the perfect time as government imposed travel restrictions begin to lift and the recovery phase of COVID-19 begins.
Ms Shaw said the restrictions had seen many people with disability unable to continue their normal routines or enjoy new outdoor experiences.
"We're so excited to now offer these adventure events and visit some of the amazing nearby destinations, such as Stradbroke Island, that have only recently reopened to visitors," she said.
"The feedback has been amazing so far and it's encouraging to see so many new friendships being formed from all different backgrounds and people of all abilities really excited to get back out into the community again."
