Three women have been charged for allegedly providing false information on their Queensland border declaration documents.
Detectives from Task Force Sierra Linnet charged a 19-year-old Heritage Park woman, a 21-year-old Acacia Ridge woman and a 21-year-old Algester woman with one count each of providing false or misleading documents under Section 364 of the Public Health Act.
The maximum penalty for that offence is a fine of more than $13,000. Police say prison sentences are also possible.
Police allege the women travelled to Victoria and deliberately provided misleading documents at the Queensland border.
They say all three women are now cooperating with QPS and Queensland Health officials.
Officers have also begun a criminal investigation which they say is unrelated to the alleged Victorian travel.
The women are in quarantine and are due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 28.
