The Courthouse restaurant at Cleveland has been named in the world's top 10 per cent via Tripadvisor.
The ranking comes through reviews, ratings and savings from travellers around the world. With five consecutive Tripadvisor wins and now in its Hall of Fame (2019), the restaurant has reached a new milestone as 2020 Best of the Best worldwide.
Owner Mary Gibb said she aimed simply to do what could be done to the highest standard consistently.
"We serve simple, elegant dishes that have stood the test of time, and remain one of the few restaurants honouring the white cloth dining tradition," she said.
"The quality of food and service, has been acknowledged with consistent awards and the level of support from its community that has seen the restaurant not only survive the crushing global crisis, but has bucked the trend and strengthened its status and reputation."
Ms Gibb said a delicate blend of innovation and standing strong in its traditions had re-connected its followers, re-ignited its management and re-focused its staff like never before.
Ms Gibb has owned the Courthouse since 1998, ensuring the property has remained relevant, achieving an iconic status in an industry that so often burns out quickly.
"The industry suffers from fickle patrons looking for the next shiny new venue, but The Courthouse has remained a favourite with its followers who always return to what they know and trust, especially during challenging, uncertain times. We have always resisted trends and have never tried to be something we're not. We simply focus on doing what we do well and on maintaining our quality and consistency," she said.
"Every precious guest is important to us, no matter what the occasion."
Ms Gibb said she was a little nervous about promoting this achievement as she didn't want her guests to expect anything different.
"The food, service and ambiance is truly a complete dining experience and is one of the reasons so many of its patrons go out of their way to leave outstanding reviews across all platforms. Of all of the accolades we have enjoyed, the ones voted by our guests are the most rewarding ones, as their experience is what matters most to us," she said.
Awards include the annual Diner's Choice from Open Table, the ABIA Wedding Industry awards, voted top three in Australia on numerous occasions and inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2017.
"To be achieving this level of excellence after so many decades is quite something," Ms Gibb said.
